If you have curly hair, you know better than anyone that wearing your hair natural is usually more work than just flat ironing it. What you save in flat ironing you make up in styling products. But what I L-O-V-E about curly hair is how unique it is!
I stopped wearing my hair natural in 6th grade and didn’t start fully embracing it until my senior year of college. I would definitely say that if I knew what I know now, I would have started wearing it natural a long time ago. So here are a few products and little goals that keep these curls hydrated and intact!
Shower Comb

I literally got mine at the dollar store so don’t waste your money on an expensive one unless you want it to be cute. If you brush your curls, they get frizzy and completely lose definition. A shower comb is a really great way to to detangle your hair, wet or dry, without completely destroying the curl.
Leave-In Conditioner: UnWined White Wine 10-in-1 Leave-In Spray
If there’s anything I recommend more than drinking water and paying your taxes is buying a leave-In conditioner. I spray it when my hairs wait, before I go to bed or just a mid-day refresher. Always focus it towards the middle/bottom half of your hair and scrunch like crazy!
I use the “White Wine” because the ingredients are specifically for moisturizing and shine.
Honorable Mention: Healthy Sexy Hair Tri-Wheat Leave In Conditioner
This one is really popular and I have used it on and off for the last couple of years, but I like the Unwined one better.
Hair Primer: Prep Rally by Dry Bar
This hair primer is my JAM. Dry bar truly is my heart and soul in this product protects and helps activate my hair fresh out of the shower. Highly recommend.
Curl Revitalizer: Hair Water by Kristin Ess
If any one gets it, it’s Kristin Ess. I haven’t been disappointed by a single one of her products yet. It seems weird to spent $10 on a can of water, but it’s a perfect tool to give your curls a boost. I keep one at home and in my bag at all times to keep my curls juicy.
Perfecting Tool: Conair ¼” curling iron
Even though the purpose of going natural is to avoid putting heat on your hair, every curl is not going to look like the next so reinforcements are necessary. I wrap any frizzy or weirdy strands that need a little extra help and it blends in perfectly!
Shampoo/Conditioner: All Soft by Redken
I can’t express enough my obsession with the Redken All Soft products. They keep my hair moisturized and super shiny. The duo is definitely more expensive than something you might pick up at the grocery store but the ingredients are salon quality and the scent is literally so good.
Honorable mentions: Dove Coconut Curls
There are sulfates and parabens in this one so I really don’t recommend it. But I had to include it because tbh, I used it for a long time and my hair looked and felt fine. Don’t @ me.
Scrunchie
Scrunchies are back in style, but even after this trend runs its course for the 30th time, I highly recommend them! Scrunchies are a lot softer and less harsh on your hair cuticle and mess up your curl pattern if they’re wrapped too tight. I wrap my hair up in one when I go to sleep or just need my hair out of my face,
My forever fave is this giant one from Nordstrom.
*Please note that curly hair is very unique so what might work for my hair may not work for yours. These recommendations are just to give you some new product inspo!
Xoxo, hunny!
